Low cloud

Walking down a road somewhere in the countryside. The clouds are very low. So low in fact that I can reach up and touch them. I take a big handful. It’s malleable, like a cross between snow and candy floss. I shape it in my hands. (19/07/09)

My favourite kind of cloud formation – like the one you just described- is known as “Mammatis” from that Latin for “pendulous breast”. These are those wonderful clouds that can gather to form storms of rain or easily disperse, leaving nothing but strata-thin wisps of sublime white. Lovely.
